A linear regulator, providing high voltage, low noise and low dropout voltage, has been released by Linear Technology. Featuring a wide input voltage range of 1.6-45V, the LT3062 delivers adjustable output voltages from 0.6-40V. Programmable noise operation of only 30µVRMS across a 10Hz-100kHz bandwidth, along with a reference soft-start functionality which prevents output voltage overshoot at turn-on, is provided by a single capacitor.

A continuous output current up to 200mA, alongside a 300mV dropout voltage at full load, is delivered by the regulator. At ±2% over line, load and temperature, the LT3062’s output voltage tolerance is highly accurate. The regulator's 3.3µF output capacitor can be used without the necessary addition of series resistance, as is common with many other regulators. Internal protection circuitry includes reverse-battery protection, reverse-output protection, reverse-current protection, current limit with foldback and thermal limiting.

Due to it's wide input and output voltage ranges, fast transient response, low quiescent current of 40µA (operating) and <1µA (in shutdown), the regulator is suitable for portable battery-powered systems and automotive, industrial and avionic power supply applications.

Ensuring a compact footprint, the LT3062 is offered in thermally enhanced 8-lead 2mm x 3mm DFN and MSOP packages. While the E- and I- grade versions feature an operating junction temperature of -40°C to +125°C, the H-grade is specified from -40°C to +150°C and the military MP-grade operates from -55°C to +150°C. 1,000 piece pricing starts at $1.60 each for the DFN and MSOP packages for E-grade.
