CT-Concept Technologie has launched the 1SC0450V, a compact and robust single-channel gate-drive solution for 6.5 kV IGBT modules. The driver is able to support the operation of up to four IGBT modules in parallel, and the use of CONCEPT’s proprietary SCALE-2 ASIC technology results in a significantly lower component count compared to a discrete solution.
This approach increases reliability, enabling a service life guarantee of over 15 years.

Featuring an on-board power supply, the drivers have a gate current of ±50 A and operate from a +15 V/-10 V supply. Power capability is 4 W at 85°C. Devices can be configured for parallel operation of IGBT modules using one central driver. Isolation is in accordance with IEC 61800-5-1 and IEC 60664-1, and the UL-compliant devices also feature Advanced Active Clamping, short-circuit protection and under-voltage lockout.

Comments Wolfgang Ademmer, CONCEPT’s CEO: “The SCALE-2 ASIC technology integrates all functions: driving, monitoring, status acknowledgement, voltage supply (DC/DC converters) and isolation of all signals between the control and power sections, resulting in a compact, reliable and cost-effective solution. We also retain full design flexibility when considering protection strategies, interface circuitry and the partitioning of the power inverter.”

Applications include traction, HVDC, STATCOM, wind-power converters and other medium-voltage converters/drives.
