New from Lambda is the ZWX series of low profile, multiple output ATX open frame switching power supplies designed for industrial computing applications, such as computer servers, industrial computers and broadcasting equipment. The ZWX series comprises three units, the ZWX180, ZWX240 and ZWX300, suitable for applications where convection cooling is desired and rated at 90W, 120W and 150W, respectively. However, with forced air cooling at 0.85m3/min (300cfm), the peak power ratings jump to 180W, 240W and 300W, respectively.
Lambda's ZWX series provides the five standard voltages necessary for high-end industrial computers including +3.3V, +5V, +12V, -12V and +5V (standby). Additionally, the ZWX300 model includes a sixth output of +12V to support additional peripherals. No minimum loads are required on any output. Typical efficiency for these models is up to 84%, much higher than most ATX power supplies already in the market. All models accept wide range input of 85 to 264VAC, 47 to 63Hz.

The ZWX series meets the ATX SFX 12V specification for computers while offering high reliability for industrial and professional grade equipment. Unlike conventional ATX power supplies used in consumer applications ZWX models are only 36mm high and, therefore, can be mounted in 1U enclosures. Also they do not have built in fans thus offering maximum flexibility to the system designer with respect to layout and cooling schemes.

The wide operating ambient temperature range is from -10°C to +70°C, with 100% load operation at 50°C. Standard features include power factor correction, remote sense, remote on/off, and over current and over voltage protection. Wiring harnesses with standard PC connectors are available separately.

All units within the ZWX series have an isolation resistance (output to ground at 500VDC) of over 100MΩ at 25°C and 70% RH, and meet EN61000-4-2, -3, -4, -5, -6, -8, -11 immunity and EN55011/EN55022-B Class B EMI standards. Leakage current is less than 750µA. They are also safety approved to UL/CSA/EN60950-1 and EN50178 (OV II) specifications and are CE marked. All models carry a three-year warranty.
