Vishay Introduces Industry’s First ESCC-4001/023-Qualified, R-Failure-Rate, Thin Film Wraparound Chip Resistors With TCR Down to 10 ppm/°C and Tolerances to 0.05 %

Vishay introduced a new series of ESCC-4001/023-qualified, R-failure-rate, thin film wraparound chip resistors. The PFRR resistors are the industry’s first such devices to offer TCR down to 10 ppm/°C and tolerances to 0.05 %.

Intended for high-reliability military, aerospace, and medical applications with stringent performance requirements, the Vishay Sfernice resistors offer load-life stability of 0.25 % at ± 70 °C for 8000 hours at rated power. Established reliability is assured through 100 % screening and extensive environmental lot testing, through which the devices have been rated for an “R” failure rate level (0.01% per 1000 hours).

Offered in four case sizes with on-resistance from 100 Ω to 3.01 MΩ, the devices are optimized for low-noise applications including precision measurement of loop voltage, blood pressure, and oxygen levels; voltage comparators; plus acoustic and telecommunication equipment in satellites, missiles, submarines, aircraft, blood pumps, and blood monitoring test devices.

The PFRR resistors feature SnPb terminations over a nickel barrier layer that enables operation at temperatures up to + 155 (C, and an alumina substrate for high power ratings to 0.50 W at 70 (C. The devices offer very low noise < − 35 dB and a low voltage coefficient of < 0.01 ppm/V. The resistors are offered in waffle pack or tape-and-reel packaging, and are halogen free according to IEC 61249-2-21.
