knitter-switch, Europe’s largest switch manufacturer, announces the introduction of its new range of vandal-proof push button switches. The PV series switches have been designed for applications in harsh environments, where security and reliability are paramount. Four of the switch families in the PV range feature metal bodies and one is plastic, all have metal actuators. Four out of the five models meet IP65 levels of protection against water and dust and all are RoHS compliant.
All of the metal switch bodies are made from brass, with either gold or nickel-plating, or stainless steel for high durability. Electrical contacts have a minimum life expectancy of 30,000 to 100,000 operations dependant on model. The PV series offers a number of illumination options including centre dot or circle rim types in red, green, yellow, blue and white. To facilitate panel design a variety of actuator bezel shapes are available including flush or domed.

Terry Moss, General Sales manager of knitter-switch UK comments, ”we have had a number of requests from our customers for vandal proof switches capable of operating in harsh environments. Our new PV series is ideal for security panels and keypads for outdoor and industrial applications. These high reliability switches offer a number illumination options which may be used to indicate successful operation in noisy or low light conditions.”

PV1 switches are 19mm diameter, non-illuminated, PV2 are 16mm, non-illuminated, PV3 are 16mm illuminated, PV4 are 19mm illuminated and the PV5 series are 12mm non-illuminated. Contacts are rated at either 48VDC @ 2A (PV1, PV2, PV3 and PV5) or 250VAC @ 5A (PV4). All models have an operating temperature range of –20°C to 55°C and screw or solder tag connections are available. Actuators may be specified as flat, raised or domed and for the PV5 the actuator is available in black, white, yellow, blue, green or red.
