Ultra-high power thin film chip resistors for industrial applications

Designers face significant challenges when working with industrial electronic controls and instrumentation.

These industrial applications demand not only the ability to handle high power and maintain stability in extreme environments but also require precision tolerances and low Temperature Coefficient of Resistance (TCR). This presents a complex challenge, particularly for film chip resistors.

Achieving high power ratings with the thin film resistor technology typically used for precision applications is challenging. However, Stackpole’s RNCU1206 offers tolerances as precise as 0.1% and TCRs as low as 10 ppm, coupled with a 1W power rating. This is notable as most thin film resistors of 1206 size are usually limited to power ratings of 0.33 or 0.5W. The RNCU is AEC-Q200 compliant, ensuring less than 0.25% resistance shift in many standard industry tests for stability and reliability. Furthermore, the RNCU demonstrates exceptional anti-sulphur properties and meets the standards of ASTM-B809.

The cost of the RNCU varies based on tolerance and TCR. For volume pricing information, please contact Stackpole or reach out to one of its franchised distribution partners.
