ProTek Devices has introduced an ultra low capacitance Transient Voltage Suppressor array (TVS array) for circuit protection in popular data interface connections such as Gigabit Ethernet, FireWire, USB 2.0 and 3.0, and HDMI 1.4 and 2.0. The very low capacitance for the new PLR0521U TVS array is 0.8pF max (typical).

The PLR0521U protects these interfaces from the damaging effects of Electrostatic Discharge (ESD) and Electrical Fast Transients (EFT). It meets or exceeds several IEC standards.

The standards are 61000-4-2 (ESD): air ±15kV, contact ±8kV; 61000-4-4 (EFT); and 61000-4-5 (surge): 4A, 80W, 8/20 micro seconds. The TVS array also boasts a low clamping voltage and protects one unidirectional line. Peak pulse power is 80W (typical at 8/20 micro seconds). The rated standoff voltage is 5.0. It is also RoHS and REACH compliant.

Mechanical, packaging and availability information
The PLR0521U TVS array is now available and is provided in a moulded DFN-2 package with an approximate weight of only 2mg.

Other key mechanical characteristics include lead-free Ni/Pd/A plating and a solder reflow temperature of (pure-tin - Sn, 100) 260°C to 270°C. It has a flammability rating of UL 94V-0. It is delivered on 8mm tape and reel, per EIA standard 481, in minimum quantities of 10,000.

Pricing information and purchasing details can be had by contacting any authorised worldwide distributor, representative, or directly with ProTek Devices. These sales sources are available throughout North America, Europe, Asia, South America, and more.
