The SMD crystal in the SMD0603 series from PETERMANN-TECHNIK is the lowest priced ceramic packaged crystal. It is available, with 2 or 4 solder pads, in the frequency range of 10.0 to 121.0MHz and with an extended temperature range of up to –40°C +125°C. A frequency tolerance of +-5ppm at 25°C and a frequency stability +-3ppm over -10°C to +55°C are possible. Ageing is at a maximum after the first year and then it reduces successively (Exponential Function). The standard ageing is +-2ppm maximum after the first year.

If required, an ageing of +-1ppm maximum after the first year is available. It is also possible to deliver crystals with very tight parameters including ageing over 10 years.

For new designs PETERMANN TECHNIK recommend the use of the 4 pad package. With the 4 pad version the connections #2 and #4 can be grounded, this greatly increases the EMC (electromagnetic compatibility ) performance compared to the 2 pad version. In addition a visual check of the quality of the soldering is easier and faster.
The layout of the 2 and 4 pad packages is the same as that of the competition. This compatibility makes them a direct drop in replacement.

The SMD crystal SMD0603 can be used for all applications where a miniaturised low cost and high performance crystal clock generator is required.

Our SMD crystals of the SMD0603 series are manufactured exclusively in clean rooms and we only use crystal blanks that come from our own production. In this way the SMD0603 offers its users the absolute best possible quality. If needed, this crystal can also be qualified to the automotive norm, AEC-Q200REV-B.

The extensive depth of manufacturing processes enables us to achieve excellent yields. In this way PETERMANN TECHNIK can offer low prices together with exceptional quality. This is of course also true for customer specials.

The SMD crystals of the SMD0603 series are lead (Pb) free and are RoHS (Restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment) conform according to the EU directive 2002/95/EG.

All PETERMANN TECHNIK products can be soldered according to JEDEC Norm J-STD-020C (Reflow), JESD22-B106-C (Wave) and the IEC60068-2-20 Norm. If other soldering processes are needed, PETERMANN TECHNIK can test them for the customer.

If there is enough space on the board for an SMD crystal, and absolute miniaturisation is not a necessity then an SMD crystal in a metal package,
the HC-49/US-SMD, could be used. The SMD crystals in the HC-49/US-SMD series are the most economical in the SMD range.

Specialist teams are available at any time to help with questions concerning design in, circuit design, circuit analysis or simulation.
