Extending its range of configurable modular industrial Ethernet switches in the Hirschmann MSP30 family, Belden have introduced the MSP30 Layer 3 switch. Through extensive routing functions, the switch enables communication between physically separated networks. The switch, which supports a wide range of security functions, ensures maximum productivity for connected systems and machines by providing all-around protection for the network.

Due to it's extensive routing and security functions, the switch provides an alternative solution for DIN rail industrial Ethernet systems. With the MSP30 Layer 3, the need for additional power supply units or cables is removed as the switch is equipped with Power over Ethernet Plus support, which allows terminal equipment to be powered straight from the data line.

By supporting standard redundancy protocols, the switch's availability is further improved as it allows users to segment networks into subrings. Featuring a ruggedised design, the MSP30 Layer 3 is suitable for use in harsh conditions. The switch can, therefore, be used near the shop floor and facilitate direct routing to other production floors without the need for a backbone router.

Available in a modular design, the switch provides users with flexibility for both current and future requirements without replacing the entire switch. Belden have also designed the MSP30 Layer 3 in such a way that modules from other switches in the MSP30 family can be used in the routing variant.

Vinod Rana, Product Manager, Belden, says “The MSP30’s unique security functions set the standard for network availability, while its modular design allows for flexible and cost-effective solutions.”
