A new range of anti-surge chip resistors from Panasonic can now be ordered via TTI, Inc., the world’s leading authorized specialist distributor of passive, connector and electromechanical components. A Melf type resistor replacement, the new ERJ series SMD thick film style resistors offer numerous benefits over the previous style devices, namely reduced costs, optimized mounting speed, simpler mounting equipment and better solder joint reliability against temperature cycles.
Panasonic succeeded in commercializing the compact thick film type chip resistors with high power and high anti-surge characteristics, meeting latest design engineer requirements and making the parts suitable for industrial, measurement and telecommunication applications as well as for automotive circuits, like ECUs (electrical control unit) and air-bag systems. The anti-surge characteristics of Panasonic’s latest SMD thick film style resistors are superior to standard metal film resistors.

Three types of ERJ series SMD thick film style resistors are available: P06 (0805 size, 0.25W), P08 (1206 size, 0.33W) and P14 (1210 size, 0.5W). The resistance range is 10 to 1M for 0805 and 1206 size devices and ranges from 1 to 1M for 1210 size parts.

Highly reliable and benefiting from a metal glaze thick film resistive element and three layers of electrodes, latest ERJ series devices are suitable for both reflow and flow soldering.

Operating temperature range is from -55 up to +155 degrees Celsius. The components come packaged in tape and reel format.
