SMD current sense device offers resistances to 5mΩ

Stackpole Electronics has announced that its CSRF series of SMD current sense resistors is now available in resistances down to 5mΩ in an 0402 chip size. This low resistance value, combined with the small package size, enables efficiency improvements in small portable electronic devices and potential downsizing of existing designs.

The lower resistance values also allow for higher current handling for a given resistor size and lower self-heating at a given current level.

Pricing for the CSRF0402 ranges from $0.18 to $0.20 each in full reel quantities.
