The component provides high levels of design flexibility. For example, a single MC4 with four 100 Meg Ohm resistors provided (all 1%) can be used in up to eight different ways, depending on the application, by altering the terminations. Ohmite can supply the MC4 with as many as four different resistor value/tolerance combinations as customers need, and even in custom lengths with potentially more resistors as platform extensions.
The advantages offered by this new package are many and in particular component and manufacturing costs. Instead of four individual placements, the resistors can all be placed at once.
The MC4 resistors are also high performance (50ppm under 250 Meg, 100ppm above 250 Meg), non-inductive, 1% standard (below 1 Gig Ohm) and available from 200-5,000 Meg Ohms.
Parts are supplied on tape and reel with flexible S-Bend terminals for solder joint integrity and to allow separation between resistor substrate and the PCB for thermal management.
