ARCOL Resistors has announced the availability a range of low-profile, metal-clad Power Resistors with 600V cables. The ARF series has high Pulse Capacity characteristics, with Pulse Power overload of 10 times normal wattage for 5s, which makes the resistors ideally suited to braking and inverter/converter applications.

The ARF series incorporates 600V cables as standard, and is delivered in a very low-profile package. The height is just 18.5mm and the power density is high for such a compact design.

A heatsink mount is provided for increased power dissipation, and power varies from 75 to 300W without a heatsink and from 150 to 600W with a heatsink.

The ARF power resistors are RoHS-compliant and are designed for easy assembly. Other main characteristics include a tolerance of ±5% as standard and maximum surface temperature of 250°C.

The insulation resistance at 500V is equal to or greater than 10GΩ and the insulation testing voltage is approximately 4000V. The operating voltage is the square root of the product of power and resistance (√[PxR]) and the temperature coefficient is less than ±150ppm/˚C.
