Vishay has announced a new series of high-voltage, screw-mounting disc capacitors that offers designers a wide range of diameters and capacitance values over rated voltages from 10 kVDC to 40 kVDC.
With low AC and DC coefficients, and negligible piezoelectric/electrostrictive effect, the Vishay Cera-Mite 715CxxKT series has been specifically designed to function in circuits with high peak current and high repetition rates. The new devices are optimized for high-frequency coupling and decoupling, laser excitation, and fast-repetition pulse circuitry in high-voltage power supplies, CO2 lasers, X-ray equipment, and welding equipment where low losses and high permittivity are required.

The 715CxxKT series capacitors feature a low dissipation factor of 0.2% at 1 kHz and a N4700 (T3M) Class 1, strontium-based ceramic dielectric. The devices offer designers a wide capacitance range up to 8000pF at 10 kVDC and 2000pF at 40 kVDC, and diameters ranging from 21 mm to 60 mm.

Providing a lower-cost, drop-in replacement for similar devices, the 715CxxKT series features both English and metric screw terminals and is epoxy resin encapsulated.

Vishay Cera-Mite single-layer ceramic capacitors, available from 100 V through 40,000 V, are used in power supplies, electronic lighting, EMI/RFI filtering, and aerospace and industrial applications. The products include a wide range of ceramic disc capacitors, including AC-line-rated disc capacitors — rugged, high-voltage capacitors specifically designed and tested for use on 125-V to 600-V power sources. Certified to meet demanding Y- and X-type worldwide safety agency requirements, they are used in across-the-line, line-to-ground, and line-bypass filtering applications.
