Available in the UK from Aerco is what the company says is the world’s first precision, two-axis, non-contacting mini displacement joystick. The Ultra MSI Model 5000C offers more tactility than a mini-force joystick, converting operator input to analogue output voltages proportional to angle of the joystick. A highly ergonomic knob provides tactile feedback to the operator even when used with gloves.
Using patented Hall-Effect technology, introduced by Ultra MSI in 1998, this new joystick provides a high integrity, precision displacement alternative to small potentiometer joysticks in a package measuring only 30mm in diameter.

The small size and weight make the 5000C an ideal solution where precision control is required and joystick displacement is preferred but a larger device is not practical. It provides 20º joystick deflections in all directions with a full scale output force of 1.0lb. Operating temperature is -32ºC to +85ºC and sealing is IP67 above panel and IP55 below panel.

With a product life of 20 million cycles, a low power consumption and an EMI immunity that is superior to inductive joystick designs these new joysticks will find applications in computer graphics cursor control, mapping systems, X-Y inspection tables, robotics, medical applications, security cameras, manned and unmanned flight control systems and all types of vehicle control from hoists and cranes to electric wheelchairs.
