Recently acquired from Measurement Specialties, Ametherm's SURGE-GARD NTC inrush current limiting thermistors have been certified by Underwriters Laboratories to be suitable for single- and three-phase input voltages up to 480VAC (according to UL 1434).

Handling high steady-state currents to 36A and input energy to 250J, the SURGE-GARD devices offer resistance at +25°C (R25) of 0.4-220Ω with tolerances down to ±10%. The components also feature maximum operating voltage to 265VRMS, beta of 3000-3965°K and are available with more than 40 options in various leaded package styles.

Designed for applications requiring inrush current limiting to reduce noise and circuit failure, the SURGE-GARD thermistors suit power supplies, motor drives, HVAC motors, motor drives, transformers and amplifiers. Constructed of specially formulated metal oxide ceramic materials, costs are lowered and reliability increased by eliminating the need to use resistors, timers and relays.

The RoHS-2- and REACH-compliant thermistors are available now with factory lead times of five weeks.
