VPG Foil Resistors announced that its Vishay Foil Resistors (VFR) brand's 303143 series of ultra-high-precision through-hole Z-Foil resistors is now available with an 'R' screening option in compliance with NASA's S-311-P-813 specification for leaded radial resistors. Offering a faster lead time to meet the market's growing need for S-311-P-813-screened resistors in space system electronic circuits, devices ordered with the 'R' option are submitted to the full test protocol (Group A, B, and C testing) for a shortened load-life testing period of 2,000 instead of 10,000 hours.

"The 303143 series features the low TCR of Bulk Metal Z-Foil technology in combination with the superior reliability provided by the S-311-P-813 screening method to deliver unmatched performance, lot-to-lot uniformity and ultimately a higher level of reliability," said Hero Faierstain, Application Engineering Senior Manager, VFR. "As NASA continues to contract with third-party companies to develop electronics for use in space, the demand for resistors compliant to S-311-P-813 specifications will continue to increase. Not only are 303143 Series resistors the only such devices in the market to meet this demand, but the availability of the 'R' option greatly reduces the time to market as time needed for lot qualification is significantly shorter."

303143 series resistors feature low TCR of ±0.2 ppm/°C typical from -55 to +125°C, 25°C ref.; tight tolerances to ±0.005%; and excellent load-life stability of ±0.005%. Optimised for critical avionics, military and space applications, the 303143 series offers a resistance range from 10 to 100kΩ, with any conceivable ohmic value within this range, to six digits, available with no additional cost or lead time effect. The resistors feature rated power to 0.3W at +125°C, a rise time of 1ns with effectively no ringing, a thermal stabilisation time of less than 1s (within 10ppm of steady state value), current noise of less than 0.010μVrms/V of applied voltage (under -40 dB), thermal EMF of 0.05μV/°C typical, and a typical voltage coefficient of less than 0.1 ppm/V.

Offering the utmost in ESD immunity, the devices withstand electrostatic discharges of at least 25kV for increased reliability and offer a non-inductive (less 0.08μH), non-capacitive design. 303143 series resistors provide drop-in replacements for previous-gen S102C/K devices and matched sets are available upon request. Non-flight units are also available with the 'U' option (100% Group A screening only).
