Murata has developed a series of ceramic resonators with built-in load capacitors to reduce component count and save space in USB 2.0 controller IC driver circuits. The new CSTCE-XT series in Murata’s Ceralock family of ceramic resonators measures just 3.2 by 1.3 by 1.0mm and is therefore extremely low profile. This series has been specially developed for USB circuitry, and is suitable for mobile phones, digital cameras, printers, keyboards and other consumer electronics and audio equipment applications.
The new resonators realise very high accuracy with an initial tolerance of +/-250ppm, and a temperature characteristic of just +/-150ppm, making them suitable for replacing quartz devices in many applications. The CSTCE-XT series does not require any external load capacitors and is extremely price-competitive, saving money for customers switching from quartz. Ceramic resonators like these also benefit from quicker start up times and better shock resistance than their quartz counterparts.

This series is available in the frequency range 24 to 27.2/30MHz and operating temperatures are 0 to 70ºC.
