Bourns launches new automotive grade multilayered varistor series

Bourns, a manufacturer and supplier of electronic components for power, protection, and sensing solutions, has two new product series additions to its automotive grade, AEC-Q200 compliant BVRA multilayered varistor line.

Bourns specifically designed its new BVRA1210 and BVRA1812 Series to deliver superior surge protection for today’s increasingly sensitive automotive circuits. These low voltage multilayer varistors feature excellent transient energy absorption due to their state-of-the-art energy volume distribution and advanced power dissipation design.

The varistor additions to the BVRA line meet IEC 61000-4-5 standard requirements, giving automotive designers the effective overvoltage protection needed to safeguard components from harmful transient voltage events. Offering exceptionally fast transient response (< 1.0ns reaction time), these varistors help to ensure prompt energy diversion during surge events. Plus, the new series provide stable leakage current for consistent overvoltage protection, and are available with a wide working voltage range from 11V to 100 V DC. The optimised design of both new BVRA series is available in compact SMD EIA 1210 and EIA 1812-size packaging with the added benefit of an insulator overcoat that aids in streamlining integration while enhancing efficiency.

The Bourns BVRA1210 and BVRA1812 Series are available now through Bourns’ authorised distribution partners, and are RoHS compliant and lead free.
