Avago’s SSR’s Give Highest Voltage Insulation in Miniature Packaging

Avago Technologies used electronica to introduce three new families of solid state relays (SSRs) with a claimed industry’s highest insulation voltage in a miniature SO-4 package size. Achieving an industry high of 3.75 kV in insulation protection, Avago’s expanded family of SSRs with MOSFET outputs enable designers to improve power efficiency, performance and reliability in low- and high-current circuitries often found in telecommunications, consumer electronics, automotive and industrial markets

Avago’s ASSR-1510/1511/1520 (60 V, 1.0 A, 0.5 ohm) provide the fastest switching speed available in the 1.0 A SSR market. Along with the ASSR-15xx, the ASSR-4110/4120 (400 V, 0.12 A, 25 ohm) and ASSR-1410/1420 (60 V, 0.6 A, 1.0 ohm) products are available as a 1 Form A (single-channel) SSR with MOSFET output in a SO-4 package and as a 2 Form A (dual-channel) SSR in a DIP-8 package. Each product family features qualified performance across a wide temperature range of -40 degrees C to +85 degrees C, fast switching speed of less than 1ms and high transient immunity greater than 1kV/ms. The miniature SO-4 package size gives designers much needed board space without compromising insulation performance.

Designers are in search of ways to efficiently and quickly switch signals and power in their products for factories or for homes without sacrificing performance or safety. Size limitations and reliability are also critical issues that are driving the trend of replacing electromechanical relay with solid state relays. Avago’s solid state relays with enhanced features generated significant interest in the market place, and today’s announcement of our ASSR product series demonstrates our commitment to continuously expand our portfolio, said Kheng-Jam Lee, worldwide marketing manager of Avago Technologies’ Optical Communication Solutions Division. By leveraging our proven track record in delivering high-performance, high-quality products, our ASSR family gives us products which complement our strong position in optocouplers, and thus allow us to expand aggressively into the relays markets.
