The 400 Series surge protective devices are new additions to Emerson Network Power’s panelmounted, facility-wide product series. Manufactured in compact, NEMA 4X, weather-tight enclosures, these products come in a variety of sizes and configurations. The surge current ratings for the 400 Series range as high as 160kA per mode or 320kA per phase. They’re also UL safety tested, receiving the coveted 1449 3rd edition, Type 1 approval, with an I-nominal of 20,000 amps and a short circuit rating of 200kAIC.
The 400 Series represents two specific devices, the 440 and 420. The 440 is a high capacity/non-modular device, consisting of 100kA or 160kA all-mode models, and is available in an optional NEMA 12 metal enclosure. The 420 consists of an all-mode and reduced mode option at 50kA per mode; both models come with a 5-year warranty.
“The 440 and 420 devices fit well into Emerson Network Power’s comprehensive surge protection plan for facility-wide protection,” said Eric Marshall, director of sales and marketing, surge protection, Emerson Network Power. “The 400 Series offers compact, reliable and cost effective solutions, keeping power quality issues from reaching our customer’s critical loads. They each deliver outstanding performance, as well as streamlined installation and operation”.
Both products have been added to Emerson Network Power’s extensive portfolio of surge protection for facility installations. Surge events within a facility can damage expensive equipment, resulting in costly repairs, downtime and the potential for lost revenue – Emerson Network Power has identified “SURGEHOTSpots” within a facility, and developed products such as the 400 Series to address these risks.
