Vishay has broadened its optoelectronics portfolio with the introduction of the new AEC-Q101-qualified miniature TEMD7x00X01 PIN photodiodes and TEMT7x00X01 phototransistors. Featuring an 0805 surface-mount package with an ultra-small 1.25-mm by 2.0-mm footprint and low 0.85-mm profile, the devices are available with spectral sensitivity to ultraviolet, visible, and near-infrared, or to near-infrared radiation only.
The devices released today are designed to free up board space or to fit onto already heavily populated boards. The TEMD7x00X01 and TEMT7x00X01 photo detectors are optimized for ambient light, tunnel, and rain sensors in automotive applications, as well as light curtains and barriers and encoding wheels in industrial applications.

The photodiodes combine a fast 100-ns response time with a spectral sensitivity range of 350 nm to 1120 nm or 750 nm to 1050 nm, while the phototransistors offer a high light current of 450 µA and spectral sensitivity range of 470 nm to 1090 nm or 750 nm to 1010 nm with a visible light filtering epoxy. The TEMD7x00X01 and TEMT7x00X01 devices feature a 1-nA dark current, ± 60° angle of half sensitivity, and have a matching emitter in the recently introduced 940-nm VSMB1940X01.

The devices offer a temperature range of − 40 °C to + 100 °C. The lead (Pb)-free photo detectors support lead-free processing in accordance with RoHS 2002/95/EC and WEEE 2002/96/EC, and are compatible with lead-free reflow solder assembly.
