Toroidal mirrors are aspheric mirrors where the curvature of orthogonal horizontal and vertical axes is different. For optical products where a small, focused spot is needed, toroidal mirrors combine focusing and beam folding capabilities in a single element.

This improves energy throughput, saving money, and allows for more compact designs. Toroidal mirrors also correct for the astigmatism that results when a spherical mirror is used off axis.

Leveraging a highly stable production facility, Optical Surfaces has decades of experience of manufacturing toroidal mirrors from BK7, Zerodur, and fused silica with surface accuracy up to λ/10 and surface quality of 10:5 scratch dig. The company’s skilled optical technicians are experienced in producing toroidal mirrors in a range of shapes with dimensions up to 500mm. An extensive range of high reflectance coatings are available.
