Seal profiles, rings, flat gaskets and cord can be manufactured to customers’ exact requirements in solid silicone rubber as well as silicone foam variants, to suit the luminaire design.
“Our customers have often reached seal ratings as high as IP67 using our silicone rubber products,” said SFS operations manager Tony Parker.
The hydrogen sulphide given off by vulcanised rubbers can cause corrosion in components such as silver-plated LED frames, which can damage the electrical contacts with the wire bond or die bond. It can also cause dimming and discolouration of the LED itself.
Silicone rubber from SFS is manufactured in its UK plant and produced from top grade European silicone polymers under stringent ISO 9001-2008 conditions. All products are fully compliant to EU RoHS and EU ELV regulations.
