A comprehensive calibration service is being offered by LASER COMPONENTS, for fibre optic light sources, optical power meters and OTDRs from AFL, Greenlee, OptoTest and Viavi, as well as, upon request, for devices from other manufacturers.

In accordance with DIN ISO 9001, calibration is carried out by comparison with standards or standard measuring devices which can be traced back to the national standards of the German Calibration Service (DKD) or the Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB). Each tested device is returned with a calibration certificate, documenting compliance with all procedures and requirements.

Attenuation measurement sets and OTDRs are used by field technicians to determine if an optical fibre meets all the requirements of the network carrier. In order to ensure smooth network operation, it is essential that the manufacturer’s specifications are strictly met. The quality manual therefore recommends that installation and maintenance companies regularly recalibrate their equipment in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications.

Companies can check the LASER COMPONENTS website to find out whether this service is offered for their particular device.
