Banner Engineering Corp. introduces the new R58B Series Expert Registration Mark Sensor. The latest addition to Banner's line of registration mark sensors provides the same high-performance detection and outstanding color contrast sensitivity of the R58E, but the new R58B provides a simplified teach process.

TEACH is performed quickly via a single-click on the TEACH push-button on the sensor or via remote input. By reducing the complexity and increasing the speed of teaching the mark and the background, the R58B reduces operator training and product change over time.

The R58B automatically selects a red, green, or blue LED during the TEACH process to optimize the application contrast. Then, the selected color is indicated on the user interface, and the customer specified color can be set from push buttons or a PLC compatible remote input — a process that has been streamlined to enable more convenient sensor configuration and teaching. The TEACH button can be temporarily deactivated by putting the sensor into RUN mode, or all buttons can be locked out via the remote interface wire.

In addition to detecting 16 levels of gray scale, the R58B features an ultra-fast 10 kHZ switching frequency, smart gain-control algorithm to maximize performance in low-contrast or high-gloss applications, and 11 status LED's to indicate sensor configuration and currently selected emitter color. The R58B is also cased in an IP67-rated, rugged zinc alloy die-cast housing with high-quality acrylic lens suitable for food processing applications and provides a single output (PNP or NPN by model).
