Opto specialist gears to meet illuminated treadplates demand

Optoelectronic specialists Selectronic are gearing to meet the growing demand for illuminated treadplates as high-end vehicle builders look to put their own name, and that of valued volume customers, up in lights.

“It is a growing trend, especially in high end vehicles,” said Selectronic’s Automotive Business Manager Justin Coleman, who has 25 years’ experience in the display industry, both from an OEM and a distribution perspective. And it is not just making sure that your brand stands out in the crowd. “Treadplate illumination can also be an effective promotional tool for a vehicle manufacturer or businesses,” said Coleman.

In fact they are becoming so popular that it is thought illuminated tread plates will eventually become a standard accessory in vehicles, making a significant statement for manufacturers and echoing a touch of class for owners.

“Selectronic offer bespoke, aesthetically pleasing and technically crafted treadplates from high quality stainless steel and aluminium to meet the demands of prestigious brands,” said Managing Director Kevin Dry.“We have also taken the concept of treadplates into the future with the use of high efficiency light guide materials to provide eye-catching controllable lighting effects with optional CAN/LIN interfaces.” 

Selectronic celebrate 40 years in 2019 and during that time have built a wealth of experience, building a big reputation as experts in opto electronic technologies.“We are able to help with the illuminated treadplate design process,” added Dry, “with a full CAD design service and innovative designs, including IP67 rated designs.” 

LED control mode can be customised and CAN/LIN interface is optional.Selectronic’s accurate laser cutting allows for future customer one-offs and limited edition runs, with varying machined designs.

“Our mission for this project is to deliver a set of aesthetically pleasing and technically crafted illuminated treadplates for the AM8 car line,” said Dry.
