The OPM functionality allows the technician to validate power levels and perform insertion loss measurements in conjunction with a compatible laser source. The OPM uses an InGaAs diode and is calibrated at 850, 1,300, 1,310, 1,490, 1,550 and 1,625nm. It features tone detect at 270Hz, one and two kilohertz for measuring and identifying all common wavelengths.
At the same time, the integrated VFL employs a 650nm one milliwatt laser to visually identify broken and/or damaged fibres as well as contaminated and/or faulty optical connectors.
