A new optocoupler from Lite-On is now available from distributor Rutronik. It consists of a high efficient AlGaAs light emitting diode and a high speed optical detector. This design provides excellent AC and DC isolation between input and output sides of the optocoupler.

Connection for the bias of the photodiode improves the speed of a conventional phototransistor coupler by reducing the base-collector capacitances. The internal shield ensures high common mode transient immunity of up to 1KV/µsec. The two channel coupler comes in a SOP8 surface mountable package with 1.27mm lead spacing. It has a low input current of 1mA. A minimum BVCEO of 80V is guaranteed as well as a high input-output isolation of 3.75KV, AC Vrms.

The LTV-0501/0701 is ideal for various applications, e.g.: as isolation in line receivers, ground loop elimination, feedback element switching and mode power supplier, high speed logic ground isolation (TTL/TTL, TTL/CMOS, TTL/LSTTL), pulse transformer replacement, power transistor isolation in motor drives and interface between microprocessor system, computer and their peripheral.
