The FLEXPOINT MVpulse laser module delivers an output power of up to 100mW and fulfills all the requirements of laser classes 1 or 2 respectively. The manufacturer achieves this with an integrated microcontroller that controls the continuous wave laser in such a way that individual pulses can be generated with an output power of up to five times higher than would be possible in cw operation.

However, the laser class specifications can still be maintained for the entire pulse sequence. In addition, the electronics ensure that the individual pulses always remain within the laser protection requirements, even if the input signal fluctuates. Input pulses that are too long can be ‘shortened’; however, if the pulse sequences are too fast, the controller will force the necessary pauses.

With its control electronics, the FLEXPOINT MVpulse fulfills two important criteria for industrial image processing. On the one hand, the principle of ‘the brighter the better’ applies in this industry. That is to say, the more light that hits a surface, the shorter the exposure times that can be achieved with the camera.

That means more pictures per second and subsequently more data. On the other hand, the systems should be operated without extensive protective devices and must therefore comply with an eye-safe laser class. This pulse generator kills two birds with one stone.

The FLEXPOINT MVpulse is available for the wavelengths 640, 660, and 780nm and delivers output powers of ten to 100mW at pulse lengths between 15 and 0.38ms.
