Optocouplers target low power applications

The ACPL-x2xL 5MBd digital optocouplers range from Avago has been added to Farnell element14’s semiconductor product portfolio.  The range is primarily designed around lower power consumption and lower supply voltage applications such as motor control or computer peripheral interface.

The devices draw less than 10mW without compromising signal isolation capability or integrity.

Operating temperature range is from –40 to 105°C, making these devices ideal for industrial applications.  Other applications include motor controllers, microprocessors system interfaces, high-speed line receiver, power control system, ground loop elimination, isolation for high speed logic systems and computer peripheral interfaces.

These 5MBd optocouplers feature a minimum input drive current of 1.6mA, maximum supply current of 1.1mA and a low supply voltage of 3.3V and CMOS outputs, enabling a reduction in power consumption of up to 80% compared to conventional 5MBd digital optocouplers and other isolators on the market.

Taking advantage of their improved performance such as low supply current, low LED input current, low supply voltage, higher CMR and wider temperature ranges, these ACPL-x2xL digital optocouplers are used with low voltage (2.5V/3.3V/5V) supply voltages.
