Eblana Photonics Ltd. (Dublin, Ireland) has announced the introduction of a 1550nm, 100kHz emission linewidth laser to expand its existing EP1550-NLW-B narrow linewidth product series. This addition to Eblana's product portfolio provides a further 50% reduction in guaranteed linewidth over Eblana's existing narrow linewidth products and will provide designers with even further scope for maximising system performance while taking advantage of the benefits provided by Eblana's high performance technology platform.
In addition to their guaranteed ultra-narrow linewidth characteristics, the EP1550-NLW-B Series lasers have highly linear light current characteristics and high side mode suppression ratio (SMSR). Eblana's NLW laser products are supplied in an industry standard hermetically sealed 14 pin butterfly integrated with optical isolator, thermo-electric cooler (TEC), thermistor and power monitor photodiode. Moreover each device is shipped with individual test data of the measured linewidth. These products are already being used in high-bandwidth coherent communications as well as in various sensor, medical and imaging applications. Custom wavelengths can be supplied to address application specific requirements.

Eblana's state of the art laser technology platform is the key to achieving the unique features of this product:

* Narrow emission linewidth, < 100kHz
* Mode hop free wavelength tuning by varying bias current and/or temperature
* Excellent wavelength stability

Our latest 100kHz addition to the EP1550-NLW-B product series further exploits Eblana's high performance laser technology platform to deliver remarkable performance in terms of spectral purity and stability in a monolithic, laser diode device said Richard Phelan, Eblana's Director of Laser Design.

Our Narrow Line Width lasers have become a product of choice for system designers seeking an economic, high performance laser where linewidth is a critical parameter. I am delighted that we now provide this 100kHz version as it allows customers with even more demanding linewidth requirements to benefit from Eblana’s technology advantage” said Dr. Bo Cai, Eblana's VP of Sales and Business Development.
