Camera features Sony IMX249 Pregius global shutter CMOS
A 2.3MP Sony Pregius global shutter CMOS camera has been released by Point Grey, expanding its Blackfly family of GigE Vision cameras. The BFLY-PGE-23S6 is based on colour and monochrome versions of the Sony IMX249, which is a 1/1.2" global shutter CMOS sensor capable of streaming 1920x1200 resolution images at 41fps.
To provide outstanding imaging performance, the sensor combines Sony Exmor and Pregius technology. The Exmor technology brings the high-speed performance of Sony CMOS, while the Pregius technology utilises an analogue memory pixel design that enables global shutter and low read noise. Offering the same optical format, pixel size and imaging performance as the Sony IMX174, the IMX249 sensor supports features required for industrial, scientific and traffic applications, such as high-speed triggering and region of interest functionality.
The Blackfly, which is compatible with third-party imaging libraries via the GigE Vision standard, supports cable lengths of up to 100m. Features include PoE, temperature and status monitoring, in-field updatable firmware, colour interpolation, look up table, gamma correction and pixel binning functionality.
