Wireless microcontroller boasts in-package BAW technology

The CC2652RB SimpleLink wireless microcontroller from Texas Instruments is now being shipped by distributor Mouser Electronics.

The industry’s first multiprotocol 2.4GHz wireless crystal-less microcontroller, the CC2652RB includes an internal high-precision bulk acoustic wave (BAW) resonator that is the source for the high frequency clock.

TI BAW technology enables high-performance, timing-accurate resonators, which when integrated into the microcontroller package eliminate the need for bulky external crystals without compromising power, latency, or frequency stability.

The CC2652RB supports Thread, Zigbee, Bluetooth 5.1 Low Energy, IEEE 802.15.4, IPv6-enabled smart objects (6LoWPAN), and proprietary systems, including the TI 15.4-Stack (2.4GHz) and concurrent multiprotocol operation through the Dynamic Multiprotocol Manager (DMM) software driver.

The microcontroller is optimised for low-power wireless communication and advanced sensing in building security systems, HVAC, medical, portable electronics, home theater and entertainment, and connected peripherals markets.
