Saelig’s W7100 – New Embedded-Internet 8051 MCU

Saelig Company announced the W7100, a one-chip solution which integrates an 8051-compatible microcontroller, 64KB SRAM and hardwired 10BaseT/100BaseTX + PHY for high performance and easy development. Targeted at designs for network-enabled instruments and dataloggers, the W7100 provides 32 Kbytes of internal buffer for data transmission/receiving, and supports half-duplex/full duplex, auto-negotiation and auto MDI/MDIX. It can also drive 6 network LEDs for Link, TX, RX, Collision, Speed and Duplex for status indication.

W7100 is an all-in-one embedded network solution featuring an industry-standard 8051 Processor, hardwired TCP/IP stack, 10/100 Ethernet PHY, 64K Bytes e-Flash memory, and 64K Bytes SRAM memory. WIZnet’s hardwired TCP/IP stack supports TCP, UDP, IPv4, ICMP, ARP, IGMP and PPPoE protocols, and has been used in many embedded products by manufacturers worldwide. W7100’s 8051 core is fully software-compatible with the familiar industry-standard 8051, but uses a pipelined architecture to speed up instruction execution by 4-5 times over standard 8051s.

W7100 is a compact, easy-to-implement platform for devices that need network connectivity. W7100’s 64-KB SRAM and 32-KB internal buffer make high-performance Internet applications possible. W7100’s design, which includes Ethernet MAC and PHY, is based on the market-proven W5100 IC, already widely used in industrial and multimedia products. By combining the latest hardwired TCP/IP chip with the benefits of an 8051 MCU core, the new W7100 provides a one-chip solution for quick-to-market, stable embedded Internet projects.
