Mouser Electronics is now stocking RZ/V2L AI microprocessors from Renesas Electronics.

Ideal for engineers seeking a cost-efficient artificial intelligence (AI) solution, the RZ/V2L enables entry-level AI while touting several robust features found with its predecessor, the RZ/V2M, including best-in-class power efficiency and high-precision AI acceleration.

The microprocessors, available from Mouser Electronics, feature Renesas’ exclusive Dynamically Reconfigurable Processor for AI (DRP-AI), which enables the microprocessor to support various image processing uses, including colour correction and noise reduction of input/output images.

This attribute allows designers to use an inexpensive camera module without requiring an external image signal processor to interpret sensor data — a key to integrating AI into a wide range of cost power-constrained Internet of Things (IoT) devices.

Driving the RZ/V2L microprocessors is a 1.2 GHz dual-core ArmCortex-A55 CPU with an Arm Mali-G31 3D graphics engine.

The RZ/V2L microprocessors are available in 15 mm × 15 mm or 21 mm × 21 mm BGA packages, both of which are pin-compatible with the Renesas RZ/G2L to allow easy upgrading and software reusability without modifying the system configuration. For evaluation, Mouser also stocks the Renesas Electronics RZ/V2L SMARC PMIC Kit.

The RZ/V2L microprocessors offer users AI capabilities across a wide range of consumer and industrial IoT applications, including surveillance cameras with recognition functions, home appliances, smart doorbells, smart robot cleaning devices, and retail point-of-sale (POS) terminals.
