The device also includes a single channel UART, an 8-bit multifunction timer with two 8-bit prescalers and a 16-bit input capture/output compare timer. By using the comparator mode, the voltage detection function can be connected to an external reference voltage. The R8C/2J operates in the voltage range of 2.2 to 5.5 V. In additional it has two internal on-chip oscillators. One operates at a low frequency of 125KHz – suitable for driving an independent WDT, and one high frequency oscillator operating at 8MHz. With its shortest instruction execution time of 125ns (at 8MHz) and an embedded 16×16 hardware multiplier the R8C/2J is perfect for a broad range of consumer and household appliances. These devices are also suitable for industrial applications.
Using Renesas’ E8a emulator tool the R8C/2J can be Flash programmed and debugged via the 1-wire interface.
