Toshiba’s TMPM3HxF10xx series of microcontrollers are the 1 MB Flash memory version of its M3H group of the TXZ+ family advanced class of MCU in the 40 nm process node.

They are in stock at distributor Digikey.

Consisting of the Arm Cortex-M3 CPU core with a clock speed of 120 MHz, 1 MB Flash, 32 KB data Flash with 100 K program/erase cycle endurance, and 130 KB RAM, these MCUs offer various interface and motor control options, including UART, I2C, TSPI, two-unit DMAC, encoder, and LCD 40x4 controller and programmable motor driver (PMD).

The advanced PMD circuit can operate synchronously with the high-speed, high-precision ADC allowing to control AC and brushless motors.

Moreover, these MCUs can support a wide variety of sensing applications with a 1 MSPS, 12-bit ADC.

The 1 MB code Flash memory is implemented in two separated 512 KB areas that allow instructions to be read and executed from one area, while the updated code is programmed into the other area simultaneously.

Firmware rotation is supported by an area swap functionality so that simultaneous firmware updates can be seamlessly implemented which facilitates firmware over-the-air (FOTA) type of applications.

There are also self-diagnosis functions in the flash memory, RAM, ADC, and clock. This key feature can help customers to achieve IEC60730 Class B functional safety certification.

Applications are:

  • Consumer equipment: home appliances, toys, and health care equipment, etc.
  • Office equipment: multi-function printers, etc.
  • Motor control of consumer equipment, industrial equipment
  • IoT of consumer equipment, industrial equipment, etc.
