The BS83xxxA series of devices are Holtek’s newly released Touch Key Flash MCUs. In addition to including all the advantages of the predecessor touch key Flash MCUs, they have the additional advantages of even lower power consumption, enhanced touch key sampling speeds and better noise immunity.
In these new devices, Holtek has also provided an OCDS EV and a new touch key development platform, which with their ease of use, offer users the ability for rapid product development.

The new BS83BxxxA family includes four devices which are the BS83B16A, BS83B12A, BS83B08A and BS83A04A. These devices contain 16, 12, 8 and 4 touch keys, respectively. Each of them is provided in a -3 and -4 version. The -3 versions have their VLVR fixed at a value of 2.55V, where they can be used in product applications such as juice machines, smoke exhaust ventilators, electric pressure cookers, disinfection cabinets, smart refrigerators, to name but a few. The -4 versions, whose VLVR is fixed at 2.1V, can be used in touch remote control product applications as well as many others. With the exception of the BS83A04A, the other devices all include an SPI and I2C interface, which can transmit the touch key status to other interface equipped external hardware. This allows the microcontroller to be used as a master control device for the complete application or to be used solely for touch key detesction purposes.

Along with other Holtek 8-bit MCUs, these new devices have a full array of protection features including high noise immunity, Watchdog Timer and Low Voltage Reset to provide maximum protection against erroneous operation. The BS83A04A-3/BS83A04A-4 devices are available in 10-pin MSOP package types, the BS83B08A-3/BS83B08A-4 devices are supplied in 16-pin NSOP and SSOP packages, the BS83B12A-3/BS83B12A-4 devices are supplied in 20-pin SOP and SSOP packages and the BS83B16A-3/BS83B16A-4 devices are supplied in 24-pin SOP and SSOP packages.
