Optimising storage solutions for data centre applications

In this video, Nigel Alvares, Vice President of SSD and Data Centre Storage Solutions at Marvell Technology discusses how cloud and enterprise data centres are increasingly highly virtualised, multi-tenant, scale-out environments that support many workloads with differing storage requirements.

To help them run at top speed, they need to be able to give each application exactly the storage it needs with the performance it requires. That is, storage must be disaggregated (separated from compute and networking).

The result is high utilisation, fast and consistent response times, low latency, and the scalability needed to keep up with the data explosion.

Disaggregated storage, connected via the latest NVMe and NVMe-oF industry standards, is essential for the latest applications such as real time analytics, machine learning, deep learning, artificial intelligence, security, video and image processing, and the IoT. Data centres can use it to reduce their total cost of ownership while delivering near real time results.
