HighPoint introduces Gen5 NVMe RAID AICs with over 50GB/s transfer speeds
HighPoint has announced a new pricing strategy for its Gen5 x16 4x M.2 NVMe AIC series, aimed at making high-performance storage more accessible.
Now available for $999 and $899 respectively, the Rocket 7604A RAID AIC and Rocket 1604A Switch AIC double the performance capabilities of standard four-port NVMe solutions, offering over 50GB/s of real-world transfer speed.
This pricing reflects HighPoint's ongoing commitment to broadening adoption of next-generation SSD media, enabling a wider range of industrial and high-performance computing applications to benefit from Gen5 NVMe technology.
Compact design, powerful performance
The Rocket 7604A and Rocket 1604A redefine storage performance for space-constrained industrial and Edge environments. Built on HighPoint’s proprietary PCIe Gen5 Switching Architecture and Broadcom’s PEX89048 PCIe Switch IC, both AICs deliver more than 50GB/s of sustained transfer speed, with x4 lanes of dedicated Gen5 bandwidth per M.2 port.
To meet the demands of industrial users, HighPoint’s engineers redesigned the PCB to fit the FH-HL form factor, resulting in a compact 167mm PCIe device – substantially smaller than typical four-port Gen5 cards, which often exceed 290mm. This size reduction was achieved using a custom cooling solution with a full-size aluminium heatsink and ultra-quiet 80 x 80 x 10 fan. It enables support for up to 32TB of Gen5 NVMe storage while maintaining peak SSD performance, without requiring host system cooling upgrades. The design prioritises speed, reliability, and space efficiency.
RAID storage management suite: storage health and security within reach
The Rocket 7604A RAID AIC offers an all-in-one NVMe RAID solution with an extensive suite of management and diagnostic tools. Features include one-click self-diagnostic and logging, colour-coded LEDs, audible alerts, and flexible access through a WebGUI, command-line interface, and UEFI-HII BIOS configuration tool.
Thermal performance is managed through an intelligent proactive-cooling solution with sensor-regulated fan speed, aluminium heatsink, and low-decibel fan, preventing thermal throttling. Real-time monitoring of SSD temperature and power use is available through the WebGUI. For data security, HighPoint’s SafeStorage supports OPAL SSC TCG-based hardware encryption (SED), configurable via WebGUI or CLI. Maintenance is streamlined with FRU support and stored VPD, ensuring correct firmware and driver pairings during replacements.
Gen5 storage performance and reliability at a competitive price
HighPoint’s Rocket 7604A and Rocket 1604A deliver up to 56GB/s of Gen5 storage performance, setting a new standard for compact and thermally optimised NVMe AICs. Designed for industrial, Edge, and HPC environments, these AICs provide powerful performance in a compact format, bringing Gen5 capabilities to a broader user base.
