The wireless modules offer a range up to 300 metres with low current consumption that is specified at 64mA (typical) in Receive (RX) mode and 246 mA at 18 dBm (typical) in Transmit (TX) mode.
The devices provide associated radio frequency (RF) components, including a crystal oscillator, bypass and bias passives with integrated MAC, RF and power amplifiers, baseband, and built-in hardware support for encryption. The two modules differ only in the type of antenna required:
The MRF24WN0MA module is approved for use with an integrated PCB trace antenna, whereas the MRF24WN0MB module includes an ultra-small W.FL coaxial connector and is approved for use with specific certified external antenna types.
Both modules have received FCC and IC modular approval, and are also R&TTE Directive assessed radio modules for operation in Europe. The modular device tests can be applied toward final product certification and Declaration of Conformity (DoC).
The modules are available in a 37-pin surface mount package that measures 17.8 mm × 26.7 mm × 2.2 mm. The castellated surface mount pads allow for easy and reliable PCB mounting, and both modules are ideal RF wireless solutions for low-power, low-data-rate Wi-Fi sensor networks, home automation, industrial controls, consumer electronics, remote device management, and medical and fitness applications.
