In stock now at distributor Mouser Electronics is the ZGM230S Z-Wave 800 system-in-package (SiP) module from Silicon Labs.

Built on Silicon Labs’ low-power Wireless Gecko platform, the next-generation Z-Wave 800 device enables rapid development of energy-efficient, long-range interoperable Z-Wave mesh network solutions for smart home Internet of Things (IoT) devices, including hubs, security, lighting, sensors, door locks, and HVAC.

The module provides developers with sub-GHz connectivity for Z-Wave Mesh and Z-Wave Long Range with over 50% better battery life compared to the Z-Wave 700 series.

It is based on the EFR32ZG23 system-on-chip. The 6.5 mm × 6.5 mm module incorporates a 32-bit Arm Cortex-M33 core with 512 Kbytes of flash (64 Kbytes of application flash memory), native security stack using Silicon Labs’ Secure Vault technology, and highly integrated Sub-GHz transceiver plus crystal, decoupling, and matching to provide a complete Z-Wave solution that requires only an external antenna.

Built with low-power Gecko technology, which includes innovative low-energy techniques, fast wake-up times, and energy saving modes, the ZGM230S reduces overall power consumption and maximises battery life — offering up to 10 years on a single coin-cell battery.

Mouser also offers Silicon Labs’ Z-Wave 800 Development Tools, which consist of the Z-Wave 800 Pro Kit (ZWAVE-PK800A) and the ZGM230S Z-Wave SiP module radio board (ZGM230-RB4205B).

The Pro Kit includes radio boards that provide complete reference designs for the 800 Series EFR32ZG23 SoC and ZGM230S modules, delivering all the necessary tools for developing robust, high-volume, scalable Z-Wave applications.

The ZGM230S Z-Wave SiP Module Radio Board (+14dBm) plugs into the Main Development Board of the Z-Wave 800 Pro Kit and includes antennas for both 868 MHz and 915 MHz frequencies.
