Two software-defined radio (SDR) platform solutions and ecosystems have been announced by Analog Devices to simplify rapid SDR system prototyping and development in applications ranging from defence electronics, RF instrumentation, communications infrastructure and open-source SDR development projects.

The first device is the AD-FMCOMMS4-EBZ cost-effective 1 x 1 SDR rapid prototyping FMC module which includes the AD9364 RF transceiver IC. This prototyping module can be software-configured for highest RF performance in the 2400–2500MHz region or for wide tuning over the 70MHz-6GHz range.

The second is the AD-FMCOMMS3-EBZ 2 X 2 SDR rapid prototyping FMC module. Engineered for 70MHz-6GHz wideband tuning applications such as hand-held and whitespace radios, it is built around the AD9361 RF transceiver. This FMC module is suited for the wireless communications SDR system architect seeking a unified development platform with wide tuning capabilities.

The Analog Devices FMC modules include all of the hardware description language code and device drivers needed for designers to quickly get their SDR platform up and running on the bench to reduce system development time and risk.
