DC RF switch integrates RF, analogue and digital functions

A new UltraCMOS true DC RF switch, the PE42020 from Peregrine Semiconductor is now available from Richardson RFPD.  The device is a HaRP technology-enhanced SPDT true DC RF switch that operates from DC up to 8 GHz with integrated RF, analogue and digital functions.

It can be configured as a 50-ohm absorptive or open reflective switch and offers power handling of +30 dBm at 0 Hz and +36 dBm at 8 GHz.

The PE42020 can accommodate DC or AC peak voltages in the range of +10V to -10V on the RF ports and DC current through RF active ports of up to 80 mA—a first for this type of switch.

The new switch is ideally suited for a range of test and measurement, as well as automated test equipment applications.

It is manufactured on Peregrine’s UltraCMOS process, a patented variation of silicon-on-insulator (SOI) technology on a sapphire substrate, offering excellent RF performance.

According to Peregrine, additional key features of the switch include:

  • Input IP3: +62 dBm (@ 836 MHz, 1900 MHz)
  • Total harmonic distortion: -84 dBc (@ 1 kHz (2.5 VPP into 300Ω load))
  • Input 0.1dB compression point: +38 dBm (@ 40 MHz–8 GHz)
  • Packaging: 20-lead 4mm x 4 mm QFN
