The MGA‑430x 2.4GHz Amplifier Modules from Avago Technologies are now being shiiped by distributor Mouser Electronics. These amplifiers are fully matched RF power amplifiers for use in the 2.4 GHz frequency band and are manufactured using Avago’s proprietary 0.25µ GaAs Enhancement Mode pHEMT process technology.

The amplifiers boast a very small footprint, high gain, and high linearity and are available in two frequency bands. The MGA‑43040 is for use in the 2.3 GHz to 2.4 GHz frequency band and provide 40 dB of gain, while the MGA‑43024 is for use in the 2.401 GHz to 2.484 GHz frequency band and provides 40.5 dB of gain. Both provide high linear output power and a built‑in RF detector.

The amplifier modules provide fully matched input and output ports, allowing the output load to see the same impedance as the source.

These amplifiers are built with Avago’s GaAs E‑pHEMT process technology which is optimised for high frequency wireless semiconductors that require devices to be low cost, large device size, high uniformity, and be capable of handling high power signals very efficiently.

The amplifiers are packaged in a compact 5mmx5mm molded chip on board (MCOB) module. The MGA-43024 is ideal for Wireless LAN (WLAN) applications, such as access points and hot spots, while the MGA-43040 is designed for final stage amplification of low power and medium power cellular base stations.
