The Quartz Crystals for Wireless Applications” product range from PETERMANN-TECHNIK contains 5.8 GHz band RF chipsets specially designed for use with low cost/high performance 40 MHz basic sound quartz crystal in 5.0mm x 3.2mm x 0.7 mm ceramic housing.

The SMD basic sound quartz crystal, manufactured in ultra-clean rooms in very large mass production quantities at the highest manufacturing level has, at 40 MHz, a frequency tolerance (adjustment tolerance) of +-9 ppm at 25°C, or a temperature stability of +-9 ppm over a temperature range of 0/+70°C. The standard load capacitance amounts to 9 pF. If the chipset manufacturer specifies another load capacitance, a development engineer can adapt the quartz crystal to the chipset by extremely slight adjustment of the external cable capacities. PETERMANN-TECHNIK's application engineers can provide technically competent support for the adaptation. Stored quantities of the quartz crystal version described can be supplied.

In order to satisfy all the demands of long-term data retention, the 5.0mm x 3.2mm x 0.7mm ceramic housing has a Kovar cover welded to the ceramic body, which makes it far superior to versions with a ceramic cover.

In order to distinctly improve the EMC, the 40 MHz basic sound quartz crystal can be earthed via nos. 2 and 4 solder pads.

Of course, worldwide logistics and customised solutions with short delivery times are possible. The PETERMANN-TECHNIK specialists' service catalogue includes circuit development, analyses, simulations, and matching tests etc., so that the user can implement his “time to market” schedule very quickly.
