Nisshinbo Micro Devices has unveiled the MUSES8921, a new dual operational amplifier aimed at high-end audio applications spanning home, professional, portable, and aftermarket car systems.

The device marks the latest evolution in the company’s MUSES range and seeks to set a new benchmark for J-FET input amplifiers.

Building on nearly five decades of operational amplifier design expertise, the MUSES8921 refines the architecture of its predecessor, the MUSES8920/A, and incorporates high-end circuitry from flagship models. Engineers have reworked signal and power pathways and optimised the placement of circuit elements, changes that Nisshinbo said contribute to improved transparency, spatial definition, and overall sonic realism.

The company claims the MUSES8921 delivers an ultra-low noise level of 8.0 nV/√Hz at 1 kHz and total harmonic distortion of 0.0004% at 1 kHz, offering “crystal-clear audio purity.” A slew rate of 25 V/µs allows accurate handling of fast transients, while the amplifier operates across a broad voltage range of ±3.5 V to ±17 V, enhancing flexibility for integration into diverse systems.

Available in EMP-8-AN and DFN4035-8-GR packages, the compact design targets portable and space-constrained applications.
