The SMD crystal in the metal housing is part of the HC-49/US-SMD series and is the world’s most-used SMD crystal. This low-cost SMD crystal, the standard version of which only has 2 solder baths, was previously not suitable for use in many EMC-sensitive applications as the housing cannot be earthed without major manual work. This is also why the wired crystal with three connecting wires from the HC-49/US series is still often used in a number of applications.

PETERMANNTECHNIK’s HC-49/US-SMD series includes a 3-pin SMD crystal where the third pin can be easily earthed, thus creating a huge reduction in interference radiation. The 3-pin crystal from the HC-49/US-SMD series is a very practical and low-cost solution for significantly
improving the crystal’s EMC performance. The 3-pin SMD crystal from the HC-49/US-GSMD series is also very practical and low in cost with a whole host of applications, including ECQ200
automotive applications.

This crystal has a maximum temperature range of - 55/+125°C with frequency tolerances of +-8 ppm and above. PETERMANN-TECHNIK’s service catalogue offers application analyses, circuit analyses, circuit development, circuit simulations and design-in support for technical value-added. PETERMANN-TECHNIK’s time to market is the most important benchmark when it comes to successfully realising customer projects.
