EMI Filter Option For Spectrum Analyser

A free EMI filter and Quasi Peak Detection option is being offered by Rigol Technologies to enhance the DSA1000 series spectrum analysers. This enhancement allows users to perform their own EMI Pre Compliance tests up to 3GHz. Although the device does not perform exactly like a fully compliant EMC test instrument according to CISPR 16-1-1, it is ideal for all necessary pre-tests.

Like the DSA815, the DSA1030 and DSA1030A models are available with an additional 1.5GHz tracking generator and an optional VSWR bridge, so they can also be used as a scalar network analyser. A built-in pre-amplifier allows up to -148dBm Displayed Average Noise Level (DANL), and with standard functions like power measurement, Harmonic Distortion or TOI the analysers are ideal instruments for powerful and versatile high frequency measurements.

The use of a digital IF, which is standard for all Rigol spectrum analysers, helps minimise errors due to filter switching and reference level uncertainties; it can even limit errors produced when switching between logarithmic and linear displays of amplitude, which occur when using a spectrum analyser with a traditional analogue IF section.

With the new free option and the integrated Advanced Measurement Kit the spectrum analyser is ideal for pre compliance tests of boards, devices and components. This allows customers to troubleshoot and test designs on their bench without having to schedule and pay for time at a full compliance lab. The pre testing helps engineers to stay within the EU-wide regulations for EMC already during the design phase and prevents from very expensive re-designs. It results in reduced development time and accelerated time-to-market.

RIGOL is launcing the option with an all-inclusive price offensive featuring interesting bundle prices for the 3GHz spectrum analyser models DSA1030-xx until December 31 2013. This includes a tracking generator, pre amplifier, EMI and QuasiPeak package at an optimised user package price.

The options which previously sold for over £400 are now available free from Telonic.

Doug Lovell, Sales Director with Telonic Ltd adds “RIGOL has already proven advantages in countless DSA applications… these new offers mean even better price-performance for our RF/EMC clients.”
